Starting orthodontic treatment is a big decision. And, when you’re a military family moving around the country—or even the world—the decision comes with additional difficulties. At Glass Orthodontics, we are dedicated to helping each family find the right orthodontic treatment while serving our country. Before you start treatment, consider these factors.

Different Orthodontists, Different Treatment

Orthodontists are specially trained to provide the best treatment for your needs. However, each one may have a different opinion on what the best course of action is for your child. If you start down one path with one orthodontist, you may need to start a different treatment at a new office.

In addition to differing techniques, not every orthodontist uses the same equipment. So, if your child starts treatment with a certain set of brackets and wires, they may need to switch appliances to whatever their new orthodontist uses. This can potentially lengthen treatment time in braces and increase costs.

Treatment Time

Ideally, the best time to start treatment is when you know you will be settled in the same area for one to two years. This can save you money and the amount of time your child is in braces.

If you know you will have to move consistently over the next few years but still need to start treatment soon, Glass Orthodontics can help! While treatment philosophies can vary, we will work with you when you transfer locations by helping you find an orthodontist in your new area that uses the same bracket system.

If you’re ready to schedule an appointment and start treatment, contact us today to schedule your initial consultation. If you or your spouse are on active duty, simply let us know at your appointment. And on behalf of all of us at Glass Orthodontics, thank you for your service!
