What Age Should My Child See an Orthodontist?

There are many different opinions on how old children should be to see an orthodontist. The American Association of Orthodontists recommend seeing an orthodontist, like Dr. Glass, for a screening or exam by age seven. However, each person’s teeth are unique and there is not a right or wrong age to see an orthodontist for treatment.

Treatment Age

Dr. Glass can treat patients of any age – it is never too late to get the smile you have always wanted! However, early treatment does benefit some young kids because we can help ensure that their jaw growth is correct and catch any facial imbalances before their permanent teeth come in. This is why it never hurts to bring your child in at age seven for a complimentary exam. Dr. Glass will create a custom treatment plan that is best for each individual patient.

Adult Treatment

Yes, adults can get braces too! In fact, we offer Invisalign treatment that adults tend to love because of the “clear” look. It is not uncommon for adults to need a second round of braces or Invisalign after having them as teenagers. This will help make sure that you avoid any possibility of headaches, TMJ, or jaw pain from your teeth being improperly aligned.
